Tolnitch Surgical associates is the first breast dedicated surgical practice in the Triangle and has been caring for women in Raleigh and the surrounding areas since 1991. We are the Triangle's most experienced breast surgical practice. Our physicians were among the first in the country to receive the Masters of Breast Surgery certification. The physicians and staff of Tolnitch Surgical Associates are dedicated to providing personal, comprehensive, state-of-the-art surgical care to women with breast cancer, as well as those with benign breast disease.
Tolnitch Surgical Associates offers a full range of services from annual breast exams to minimally invasive procedures done in our office. These services include digital screening and diagnostic mammography and ultrasound in collaboration with Wake Radiology. Their services have been certified through the American College of Radiology as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. As well as our surgeons perform image directed biopsies under ultrasound and mammogram direction. Our stereotactic procedures are also ACR approved. This allows us to provide a prompt diagnosis in a comfortable office setting.
Our physicians have extensive training and experience in all advanced breast cancer treatment modalities including breast conservation procedures, sentinel node biopsy, accelerated partial breast radiation with the Mammosite balloon and nipple sparing mastectomy. In addition, for the past six years, the physicians have held a semimonthly in-office multidisciplinary conference with radiology and pathology physicians.
In October 2011, Tolnitch Surgical Associates became members of the Duke Cancer Institute and Duke's Division of Surgical Oncology in the Department of Surgery. Our decision to merge with Duke is based solely on the fact that through this partnership our commitment to quality patient care will be enhanced by providing Raleigh and surrounding areas with access to the state's top ranked cancer program.
As part of the Duke Cancer Institute's multidisciplinary breast program, we will work with a team of experts at Duke to provide our patients with the best, most comprehensive care including access to the clinical trial opportunities and other resources of the Duke Cancer Institute.
