VACUUM ASSISTED BIOPSY INSTRUCTIONS
POST PROCEDURE INSTRUCTIONS

1. Keep dressing on biopsy site until next day.
2. You may remove dressing in a.m.-After removing, you will see small strips of white tape directly over biopsy site. Leave strips in place until your return office visit. If you notice any skin irritation or redness, remove the dressing and/or strips and notify the office.
3. You may shower the next day.
4. Tylenol or Advil should take care of any pain. Call the office if these are ineffective.
5. Wear a supportive bra or sport bra the evening/night of the biopsy.
6. Avoid rigorous activities such as jogging for 2-3 days.
7. Avoid swimming for 7 days.
8. You may use an ice pack tonight, if desired.
9. The final pathology should be available within 48 hours if sent to Rex. It may take a few days if sent to another reference lab. We will call you with the results.
10. Call the office at 782-8200 if you experience any fever or bleeding or have any other problems or concerns.
11. Breast tenderness and bruising are common for a few days after the procedure.
